About the Author

My name is Laura Laurie. I was born to American parents in Belgium, raised in France, and educated in the United States. I now live in Chicago with my husband and three children. This project evolved from my abiding love for the American Girl stories and dolls, several friendships with refugees in Chicago, and my background as an American raised overseas. Now that my eldest daughter is 6, I have had the privilege of sharing my Kirsten doll and many of my favorite American Girl books with her. I would love to see, for myself and for my daughter, dolls and stories of girls whose lives led them across the world to this new land full of hope.

If you have ideas, questions, or suggestions about this website, I would love to hear from you.
